Description
SS Nomadic is located in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, close to the Titanic Belfast visitor attraction and the city’s historic docks. Built in 1911 as a tender ship for the RMS Titanic, it is the last remaining White Star Line vessel and has been fully restored. The ship is an indoor/outdoor museum experience, allowing visitors to explore its decks, crew areas, first-class passenger lounges, and cargo spaces while learning about its history transporting passengers and mail to the Titanic and other large ocean liners.
Entry to SS Nomadic requires a ticket, which can be purchased separately or as part of a combined Titanic Quarter ticket package. Opening hours are generally daily during daylight hours, with slightly reduced hours in winter and extended hours in summer. Visits are self-guided, but staff are on hand to answer questions, and audio guides or information panels provide historical context. Special events, exhibitions, and educational programs may occasionally be held on board.
Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the ship’s decks and gangways can be narrow or slightly uneven. Photography is allowed, and children often enjoy exploring the ship’s cabins and working areas. The vessel is partially accessible, but some areas with stairs or steep gangways may be challenging for wheelchairs or those with limited mobility. SS Nomadic can be visited year-round, but spring and summer offer the best weather for enjoying the decks and surrounding dockside area.
