St Mawes Castle is one of the best-preserved coastal fortresses from the Tudor period, located in the picturesque village of St Mawes. Overlooking the Carrick Roads estuary, directly opposite Pendennis Castle, it was strategically positioned to defend one of England’s most important natural harbours. Its elegant, symmetrical design and distinctive clover-leaf shape set it apart from many other fortifications of its time.
