Wat Sri Suphan, widely known as the Silver Temple, is a distinctive Buddhist temple located in the Wualai area just outside the old city of Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand. It is closely associated with the traditional silver craftsmanship of the local community, which has worked in the area for centuries.

The temple is most famous for its entirely silver-plated ordination hall, where intricate panels, carvings, and decorative details are crafted from aluminium and silver alloys. These ornate designs depict Buddhist teachings, mythical creatures, and scenes from Lanna culture, creating a highly detailed and reflective exterior that glows in daylight and evening lighting. The surrounding complex also includes smaller shrines, artisan workshops, and quiet courtyard spaces.

Today, Wat Sri Suphan remains an active place of worship, though access to the main ordination hall is restricted for women in accordance with traditional beliefs. It also functions as a centre for preserving and demonstrating silver craftsmanship, with artisans often working on-site. Its combination of religious significance and unique artistic identity makes it one of Chiang Mai’s most visually striking temples.
